Note: Ummm. We forgot 5.5e does in fact exist, so here are the relevant highlights from the newest edition:
Beholders’ self-hatred is no longer called “xenophobia” and is directed only at themselves rather than other species
Iggwilv has a cute lil note about gnolls being seen as “maggots” by Yeenoghu, but ones he uses to further his own goals
Other than that, they both have the same vibe as 5e and don’t really take away from any of our current concluding thoughts.
Beholder (Greyhawk, OD&D)
Beholder + sexii lady (I, Tyrant, 2e)
Great Mother (I, Tyrant, 2e)
Hive Mother (Lords of Madness, 3.5e)
Gnoll, Monster Manual (AD&D)
Gnoll, Introduction to Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (2e)
Yeenogu + gnolls, (DM #364)
Gnoll, Monster Manual (5.5e)
